Local Chapter News

Approximately 270 people gathered together to celebrate eight individuals that made an impact by Meeting the Moment. These 2021 National Philanthropy Day Award Recipients, supported by family, friends, and colleagues shared their stories and gratitude. Gratitude was the highlight of the event on Tuesday, November 9th at The Pfister Hotel. Gratitude for loved ones, for the honor, for the opportunity to serve, for the supportive community, and for greater Milwaukee Area  non-profits. It was a truly rewarding event.

The annual Association of Fundraising Professionals of Southeastern Wisconsin (AFPSEWI) National Philanthropy luncheon is back! After convening virtually last year due to the pandemic, local community leaders will gather in person on Tuesday, November 9 at the Pfister Hotel to celebrate the power and impact of philanthropy.

This year’s theme, Meeting the Moment, pays tribute to the philanthropists, volunteers, organizations, and development professionals who rose to the occasion—in the midst of the pandemic—to make our community a better place for all. A highlight of the event will be the awards presentation honoring leaders who exemplify the best of our Milwaukee community.

Program for 2021 promises to be the best in chapter history!
I’m excited to inform you that our 2021 mentoring program is officially underway.

Remember last year when we were all just going to stay close to home and limit contacts for two weeks? If only it had been that simple…

There’s a friendly debate among seasoned AFP members about who has been a member the longest.  Membership records don’t always clear up the confusion.  (If you’ve ever tried to renew your membership after lapsing for even a short time, you’ll understand why.  This is also a good reminder to renew your membership now if you’re lapsing this summer!)

Regardless of who holds the “official” title, there’s no debate that Michele Weinschrott, Director of Development at the University of Milwaukee College of Nursing & School of Public Health, has been an AFP member for a very long time.  According to AFP Global, she’s been a continuous member since 1986.  But her passion for this profession hasn’t dimmed in the least over all of those years.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to announce our Chapter Administrator, Erin Richardson, has resigned to pursue new career opportunities.

Every year, AFP honors chapters for achieving goals that align with key objectives in its long-range strategic plan. Chapters receive the Ten Star Award for performing specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy. Just one-third of all AFP chapters are named Ten Star Chapters, and I happy to report that our Chapter is one of a select group of chapters to earn this honor.

Though virtual networking and learning continues as the method to meet the needs of AFP members we have decided to provide opportunities that are 'more than just a meeting.’ Find out what the fuss is all about...

It’s hard to believe that we are almost one full month into a new year. I hope everyone had a great year-end and that you are well on your way to achieving your 2021 goals. As our AFP Chapter looks at a new year...

On a snowy morning last February, a small group met at the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin for the monthly AFP Grant Group. After great discussion, the March meeting was scheduled at the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. Then came March and COVID hit...

This year was tough on many nonprofits and we all understand that challenge all too well. But be assured we are here to support you and your organizations in our community.

Have you ever thought about what your next career move would be? Or wondered how you would set yourself apart from other non-profit job seekers? If so, then it’s time to consider pursuing your CFRE and becoming a Certified Fundraising Executive.

Our long-awaited website is an instant asset for member value! Unveiled today, the new website is specifically designed to address our members’ number one challenge:  to better navigate the benefits of AFP membership.

AFPSEWI welcomes seven new board members in 2019! Given the excitement and lofty goals they have expressed, AFPSEWI is confident these leaders will make a lasting impact and enhance the AFP experience for all chapter members.

It is a great honor to have been elected to serve as the next president of our chapter and I want to thank those who have served over this past year for their hard work and dedication.

When Milwaukee Lifestyle Magazine planned an article on our region’s culture of philanthropy, where did they turn for insight? Our local AFP chapter, of course!

As I get close to turning over the virtual gavel, I reflect on my time as Chapter President and share a few thoughts to summarize what meant the most to me during this time.

The 2018 AFPSEWI Chapter Member Survey was recently concluded; the more than 120 respondents revealed vital insights that chapter leaders are already using to plan for the future.

What does your AFP membership mean to you? The answer to that question will be different to each of us, but we consistently hear...

Do NOT believe the following 2018 Member Survey results. Why? Because they are still preliminary! Thanks to everyone who has participated so far – you’ve taught us a lot about how to improve member value.

Milwaukee-area fundraisers increasingly find value in AFP membership – and now there’s hard proof.

When Dan Mueller of ARCW landed a $1 million gift from a brand new donor, he credited AFP with the idea that led to the gift. Your professional growth moment might not be as dramatic as Dan’s, but I’ll bet you have one –

AFP – Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter offers a Consultant and Resource Directory on its website, sharing information about fundraising consultants and other resources for our members to review in support of their work.

AFP’s Southeastern Wisconsin chapter welcomes four new members to its Board of Directors. Despite very different career paths, they all share enthusiasm for the chance to contribute to the chapter’s success.

Education is a pillar of what AFP does for its members. Our chapter has benefitted greatly from an excellent group of volunteers who help develop quality programs throughout the year.

Join us in saluting these 2017 award recipients who through their involvement demonstrate the best in community engagement. Their actions and responsible conduct make the following individuals, corporations, foundations, and youth the leaders in Southeastern Wisconsin.

Wisconsinites love a bargain and the recent AFP Membership Promotion was just the ticket! The Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter was recognized by AFP Headquarters for registering the most new members.

More than 50 AFP members and guests came together to enjoy the view at BLU on Monday, July 17 to celebrate summer, each other and the spirit of philanthropy.

Hopefully year-end efforts were fruitful, holidays enjoyable and now we all ready to move forward into 2017 with renewed energy, high hopes and solids plans for success. As your Chapter President, I hope that AFP and all we have to offer is part of your plans for networking and education in the coming year.

Milwaukee is known as a great, family-oriented community: People here know that giving to a family member in need is not only the right thing to do, but results in a warmer and stronger family environment that benefits everyone. Fair enough. But there’s a special group among us who take this even farther – who see all of us as family. These people extend their giving spirit to the community at large – and the result is a warmer, stronger metro Milwaukee.
