Member Kudos & Profiles

There’s a friendly debate among seasoned AFP members about who has been a member the longest.  Membership records don’t always clear up the confusion.  (If you’ve ever tried to renew your membership after lapsing for even a short time, you’ll understand why.  This is also a good reminder to renew your membership now if you’re lapsing this summer!)

Regardless of who holds the “official” title, there’s no debate that Michele Weinschrott, Director of Development at the University of Milwaukee College of Nursing & School of Public Health, has been an AFP member for a very long time.  According to AFP Global, she’s been a continuous member since 1986.  But her passion for this profession hasn’t dimmed in the least over all of those years.

Our members are amazing! Every day they do things that make a huge impact in our community and the world. See what AFP Southeastern fundraisers have been up to.

So you’re chatting with a group of fellow AFP members, asking around for solutions to your latest fundraising challenge, when one of the group replies, “Wow, your situation sounds familiar. I’ve worked with about a dozen organizations who approached that challenge in five different ways.”

We were able to catch up with Katerina Herder recently, Director of Development for Healthy Minds Innovations. Katerina has been a member of AFP for the past year or so and has recently discovered one of AFP’s special interest groups.

I’ve been a fundraiser and activist since the age of six, having attended parochial school on the south side of Milwaukee beginning in the early 1980s. My lifelong relationship with fundraising and competition began...

Lisa Pieper reveals: “My first trip to AFP ICON did not disappoint. Here are tips I picked up from some of the BEST MINDS in fundraising, many of whom have been or will soon be Fundraising Day Wisconsin stars..."

Rikki gets acquainted with AFP SEWI at the recent Membership 101 event

Who doesn’t like being front row? Whether it’s going to see your favorite act in concert or a sporting event, you’re usually bursting at the seams with excitement and making sure your cell phone is fully charged for pictures!

Conference is rewarding experience for scholarship recipient

2019 is proving to be an exciting year for Elizabeth O'Hara of Alverno College. Elizabeth was recently nominated by her colleagues for the 2019 Young Nonprofit Professional Emerging Leader Award!

We’re excited to send three AFP ICON Scholarship winners to San Antonio, Texas, for the 2019 edition of the world’s largest conference for professional fundraisers.

It is a great honor to have been elected to serve as the next president of our chapter and I want to thank those who have served over this past year for their hard work and dedication.

"I would highly encourage other fundraisers to recognize their own volunteers and donors at NPD." Patti Oliver tells how it pays off in deeper donor relationships.

Attending this conference was an amazing opportunity to meet and learn from many experienced professionals from around the world. All the networking and educational opportunities available make it an invaluable experience that I recommend every fundraising professional to take part in.

“Asking for money is like offering a piece of gum. Some people will say yes, and others will politely refuse because you don’t have the flavor they are looking for. And that’s OK! Find the people that want your gum.”

The AFP Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter is comprised of over 300 hardworking and dedicated members, including 15 Board members and almost 40 committee members. Let's learn more about those that work to make us a Ten Star Gold chapter!

More than 50 AFP members and guests came together to enjoy the view at BLU on Monday, July 17 to celebrate summer, each other and the spirit of philanthropy.

It was quite an honor to be one of three Southeastern WI Chapter AFP members to receive a scholarship to the AFP International Fundraising Conference in San Francisco this April! I was amazed by how much information was fit into three days of sessions. During the conference...

Your AFP membership offers so much more than a once-a-month opportunity to hear a great speaker! Just ask Heidi Boyd, CFRE, and Associate Director of Individual Giving Wisconsin Humane Society.

Why did I join AFP? Early in my career, I worked in small shops and was often the only Development staffer – and AFP provided not only the tips and tricks and educational resources to help me learn how to do my job well, but also the camaraderie and necessary support through an amazing network of colleagues.
