Job Summary:

Kinship Community Food Center seeks an individual to lead all aspects of the organization’s internal and external communications. The Communications Manager will be part of a growing and mission-driven Advancement Office to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that strengthens our brand, supports fundraising, engages key stakeholders, and increases awareness of food insecurity issues in our region.

In this role, the Communications Manager leads the development and execution of a comprehensive, organization-wide communications strategy that elevates Kinship Community Food Center’s mission and impact. This includes overseeing all digital channels—such as the website, email marketing, and social media platforms—to ensure consistent messaging and strong audience engagement. The manager writes and edits a wide range of materials, including newsletters, press releases, acknowledgements, reports, and campaign content, all crafted to communicate clearly and compellingly with diverse stakeholders.

A key part of the role involves capturing and sharing stories that highlight the lived experiences of community members and the impact of Kinship’s programs. The Communications Manager proactively builds relationships with media partners, pitches stories, and coordinates press engagement to increase visibility. They also collaborate closely with development and stakeholder engagement teams to support communications needs for events, campaigns, and donor relations.

Additionally, the manager serves as a strategic advisor to program staff and organizational leadership, helping assess communication needs and guiding the development of effective messaging across departments.
