Local Feedback on the AFP International Conference

ICON 2018: Amanda Stahmann and Heather StoskopfI'm so grateful to have been chosen as a Chapter Scholar and attend the AFP International Fundraising Conference in New Orleans.  Attending this conference was an amazing opportunity to meet and learn from many experienced professionals from around the world.  All the networking and educational opportunities available make it an invaluable experience that I recommend every fundraising professional to take part in.  The workshops provided numerous new ideas and strategies that I plan to put in place within my own organization.  Due to the extensive variety of topics offered, choosing which sessions to attend was one of the most difficult aspects of the conference!  While I chose to focus on planned giving initiatives and relationship building through storytelling, there were opportunities to learn about a multitude of different aspects of fundraising.  Above and beyond the workshops, the conference allowed me to make many worthwhile connections with other AFP members and fundraising professionals.  I also strengthened relationships with other AFP Southeastern Wisconsin members in attendance, many of whom I look forward to connecting with in the future to share insights and experiences.  My membership with AFP Southeastern Wisconsin has been invaluable to my career growth and development, and I encourage every member to take advantage of all the opportunities available through this network of fundraising professionals.
