Salary Range: $54,539.20 - $64,765.30 Salary/year

Job Summary:

The Philanthropic Advisor will be a core member of the fundraising team at the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS), a nonprofit 501(c)(3)  serving over 40,000 animals annually from six operating locations with a budget of ~ $10 million. Responsible for implementing fund development initiatives and activities related to major giving and planned giving, with primary focus on WHS’ Southern Campuses in Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties. This is a hybrid role with opportunity to work remotely or at onsite workspace in West Allis, WI.  Apply today!

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Cultivate strong relationships to inspire potential high-impact donors
  • Develop cultivation strategies for, solicit and steward an assigned portfolio of ~ 150 individual donors capable of giving $1,000 or more
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward potential planned giving relationships and capital campaign prospects
  • Manage personal donor relations data entry, gift forecasting and prospect research
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Develop, implement and share effective fundraising approaches for WHS, ensuring profitability of revenue-generating activities according to budget and organizational philosophy 
  • Provide administrative support on estate gift processing, donor research and prospecting

Qualifications & Requirements

Positive, professional and team-oriented with the following attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; CFRE desirable
  • At least 5 years progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising. Successful sales experience considered
  • Approaches donor work with confidence and patient persistence
  • Excellent oral and written communication; strong interpersonal skills
  • Capable of handling high-pressure situations professionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with MS Word and Excel required
  • Raiser’s Edge or comparable donor database experience preferred
  • Knowledge of giving vehicles including stock/securities, donor advised funds, QCDs desirable
  • Capable of completing assignments with minimal supervision in a highly motivated manner
  • Occasional evenings and weekends

The Wisconsin Humane Society is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin.  Founded in 1879, WHS operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Door, Brown, and Kenosha Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis.
