Director of Development

After completing a five-year strategic plan, the Racine Heritage Museum (RHM) is seeking its inaugural Director of Development: an entrepreneurial leader ready to establish a comprehensive advancement program, deepen community ties, and help propel a beloved civic institution into an era of meaningful growth. This individual will lead RHM’s enthusiastic Board and senior staff in supporting this work. The Director of Development will also supervise a part-time Marketing Assistant.

RHM is the only institution solely dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of Racine County, stewarding more than 200,000 artifacts and 6,500 linear feet of archives. It has an engaged Board, a passionate staff, deep community roots, and significant unrealized philanthropic potential.

Ownership Areas

Fundraising & Membership

• Implement RHM’s first comprehensive development program.
• Set annual fundraising goals and a revenue plan.
• Develop a clear, attractive membership strategy.
• Create and refine the infrastructure to manage, evaluate and grow donor relationships and fundraising progress.

Individual & Organizational Gifts

• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors.
• Research, write, and manage grant applications.
• Develop and execute an effective corporate sponsorship program.

External Relations

• Alongside other RHM leaders, serve as a visible community ambassador for the Museum.
• Ensure consistent, compelling external
• Reimagine the annual Sports Hall of Fame.

Board Governance

• Collaborate with Board leadership to support a developing philanthropic culture and trustee recruitment.
• Staff the Development Committee of the Board.
