More than 1,400 students are enrolled in MCW’s medical school and graduate school programs in Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Central Wisconsin. MCW’s School of Pharmacy opened in 2017. A major national research center, MCW is the largest research institution in the Milwaukee metro area and second largest in Wisconsin. In FY2016, faculty received more than $184 million in external support for research, teaching, training and related purposes. This total includes highly competitive research and training awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Annually, MCW faculty direct or collaborate on more than 3,100 research studies, including clinical trials. Additionally, more than 1,500 physicians provide care in virtually every specialty of medicine for more than 525,000 patients annually.
Froedtert Hospital, the primary adult teaching affiliate for the Medical College of Wisconsin, is a 604-bed academic medical center that delivers advanced medical care. Froedtert Hospital is nationally recognized for exceptional physicians and nurses, research leadership, specialty expertise and state-of- the-art treatments and technology. Froedtert serves as Eastern Wisconsin’s referral center for advanced medical practice care 37 specialties and is a major training facility with more than 1,000 medical, nursing and health technical students in training.
In partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin, Froedtert is also a respected research facility with annually more than 2,000 research studies, including clinical trials. Froedtert Hospital operates the region’s only adult Level 1 Trauma Center.
The Associate Vice President, Philanthropy is responsible for driving annual, major, principal and planned giving efforts for the Medical College of Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital Foundation.
Leads all facets of major gift fundraising, including strategy setting, as well as staff and program design, implementation, and assessment. Collaborate with Chief Development Officer, and department leadership to promote a results-driven, collaborative work environment focused on strategic planning and process improvement within functional areas.
Works closely with the Vice President and Chief Development Officer, institutional leaders and department chairs to identify, quantify and understand the institution’s philanthropic priorities and develop strategies necessary to guide clinicians, researchers and staff to enhance philanthropic support for the institution’s highest priorities.
Supervises a large major gift team with assigned responsibility for major and principal gifts, planned gifts, corporate and foundation gifts. Provide leadership and guidance for gift officers to implement best practices in fundraising, with an emphasis on collaboration and accountability. Guide team in creative and effective strategy to identify and cultivate new prospects, including the expansion of the grateful patient program.
Reviews priority prospect activity for each team member, and guide strategy. Ensure success towards goals for team and members, with metrics to track progress.
Manages a small portfolio of principal giving prospects as necessary, with an emphasis on building the principal gift pipeline. In some instances, serve as the secondary prospect manger to assist in managing key institutional donors.
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum Required Experience: 10+ years in the Advancement field, with a preference for experience in the higher education or healthcare sectors
- Preferred Experience: 5+ years of experience managing/supervising a major gifts team. Experience with grateful patient and/or alumni giving desired. Proven track record of cultivating and closing five-, and six-figure gifts in a complex organization.

- Demonstrated success in campaigns and managing multi-member gift teams.
- Demonstrated significant growth in fundraising revenue in roles with progressive responsibility.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage in a complex organization and plan strategically with high-level faculty and administrators
- Expert knowledge of all aspects of fundraising best practices techniques and procedures.
- Preferred knowledge of philanthropy software.
