Topic: A recent news article stated that the Future of US Philanthropists is in the Hands of Gen X and Millennials. Our panel will explore this statement and how successful business owners and philanthropists approach their goals of making our community stronger. What motivates giving, community activity and how can we partner for the greater good.
The panel discussion will be facilitated by Milwaukee Business Journal publisher Kira LaFond and Association of Fundraising Professionals – Southeast Wisconsin chapter president Nancy Seidl Nelson.
Tina is the CEO of SysLogic, Inc., an information technology services firm offering business consulting, custom software development and data intelligence services to clients in the manufacturing, healthcare, government and financial services industries.
Chang has demonstrated a dedication to her community through her leadership and board responsibilities with Alverno College, YMCA-Metro Milwaukee, Boys & Girls Clubs-Milwaukee, Columbia St. Mary’s Health System, MMAC, Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation, Public Policy Forum, Teach for America, the United Performing Arts Fund, United Way and Weyco Group. In 2009, Chang and SysLogic were awarded the United Performing Arts Fund Civic Partnership Award. In 2013, Chang received the Professional Dimensions Sacagawea Award, and was also named a 2013 Woman of Influence by the Milwaukee Business Journal
Originally from New York, Chang attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison and received a BBA degree. Chang also attended the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, where she specialized in environmental accounting and European commerce.
Chang is always willing to share her knowledge with others and participates in many community events. She is passionate about mentoring our city’s youth and she enjoys tournament bass fishing in her free time.
Arvind is the Director of Corporate Social Responsibility for the Milwaukee Bucks. He is a native of the Milwaukee area, a proud graduate of UW-Madison and a lifetime Wisconsin sports fan. As a member of the Bucks community team, Arvind helps leads the organization’s mission to make the place in which we work and play a better place for all families to live. Arvind is currently in his second season with the Bucks after spending 11 years in corporate communications for NBC Universal and General Electric’s Healthcare business. Arvind is married to Brenda Long and they have two energetic boys Leo (5) and Rajan (2) who constantly keep them active and involved in the community.
As a social entrepreneur, Chris leverages his diverse experience in relentless pursuit of social impact. Chris co-founded Greenbush Strategy Partners with the belief that by encouraging social entrepreneurship AND increasing the capacity of the non-profit sector we can better address community challenges. Greenbush provides consulting services to both non-profits and for-profits.
Chris leads the firm in developing the overall strategy as well as the marketing and business development efforts. He is active in client engagements by creating innovative marketing, sales, and fund development strategies with additional focus on capacity building through sustainable and efficient programs.
Past experiences include Dir. Market Strategy for Prairie Financial Group, Dir. Estate and Gift Planning for the American Cancer Society, and Financial Advisor for AXA Advisors.
Chris earned his Bachelors in Economics from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin Madison.
A graduate of Cardinal Stritch University, Omar provides Milwaukee residents and visitors with exceptional dining experiences as Co-Owner/ President of SURG Restaurant Group.
Omar finds balance with his involvement in several Milwaukee and Wisconsin-based community and tourism organizations including; Sharp Literacy, the WI Athletic Hall of Fame, and Donald Driver’s Driven to Achieve Foundation. Omar also serves as Chairman for VISIT Milwaukee, WRA Kitchen Cabinet, JCC's KidShare event, and is proud to help his Alma mater, Cardinal Stritch University, as Business Advisory board member. Omar was formerly a board member for Froedtert’s President Advisory Council, NEWaukee, State Tourism Council and Milwaukee Urban League, GMC’s MiKE Committee and Downtown Task Force and he helps raise awareness for Sojourner Family Peace Center by co-chairing the Sojourner Fashion Show annually along with his wife Connie for the past two years.
The day will conclude with a 3:30 networking social where community members representing the business and nonprofit sectors can make connections that will advance southeastern Wisconsin into the future.
